It starts off really well
The Tale of New York Written by Jem Finer, Shane MacGowan Performed by The Pogues & Kirsty MacColl. It’s one of those run-of-the-mill entertainments where you can’t really criticize the acting, and the production values are pretty much flawless. You think you’ll be engrossed and seduced by a complex spy thriller.
But John Le Carre didn’t
Instead, you soon realize that it is neither serious nor funny. As is often the case these days, the problem is the lack of story. It has quirky characters and indeed characters with all the charm and conversational wit expected of a psychopath.
Unfortunately, disappointing, it could have been very good
They might be related to Eve from Killing Eve, but these are poor relatives and don’t add up very well on the psychopath DNA heritage scale. It’s a comic book a caricature of a spy thriller with a story that relies on a thin plot and frequent action scenes that fill the space.
