The remake of Le bureau des légendes (2015)
We need to talk about the elephant in the room. Namely, to meet the ever-increasing demand for streaming content, creators on this side of the pond are borrowing entire shows from overseas. This year, 2024, France has been the source of two major N.A.
Cloning and repatriation don’t always guarantee an exact replica
releases, namely High Potential (a clone of the hit French series known as “HPI”) and now, with THE AGENCY 2024, a clone of Le Bureau Des Legends (one of the most popular French TV shows of all time, which aired from 2015 to 2020). For example, many critics feel that the new Western version of HPI, High Potential, is a real improvement over the original. Based on the first episode of Agency, this reviewer believes that the show should at least live up to its iconic foreign counterpart.
But so far, so good
The writing is sharp, and Fassbender — another A-list movie star making the transition to the small screen — rarely disappoints. We take for granted that major plot points will be changed to account for the ever-changing political landscape. Recommended.
