For someone who didn’t really know the story, I was really interested in the details of what happened
Story
During the 1972 Munich Olympics, an American sports broadcast crew finds themselves caught up in a hostage crisis involving Israeli athletes. All the performances are believable, the comedy in all the right places, and the pacing and flow that keeps you from getting a peek before the credits roll.
They did a solid job of not telegraphing plot points
Some might find the lack of a change of scenery tiresome, but I think it worked in this case. I think they wanted you to feel like the control room was your world, and to feel like they were there on this eventful day.
It makes you think without being preachy
They touched on the political and emotional elements nicely. The mixing in footage from the actual event, including footage from the broadcast, definitely draws you more into the experience.
A nice touch
While it’s not a film I’d really like to watch over and over again, it’s a very well-made piece that I would recommend to friends who like films like this.
