After seeing all 3 seasons of Outer Banks I cannot deny that I was amused and entertained: all episodes are chock-full of high paced adventures, treasure-hunting and pursuits by villains, all this on exotic locations and with as an extra some romantic entanglements between the young and attractive cast. So what's there not to like!?Well, I do have some reservations too.
The goings-on are all extremely farfetched and unrealistic: like how this group of teen-friends succeeds time and again in escaping right under de nose of the police or heavily armed criminals, frequently amidst a shower of bullets but always unharmed; or how they solve mind-boggling mysteries (like for ages hidden treasures or the location of the legendary El Dorado) within the flick of a wrist, or thanks to out-of-the-blue strokes of luck.The young cast is evidently supposed to illustrate the importance of true friendship, but their juvenile behavior gradually gets on your nerves, with all the bro'ing and dude'ing and the unavoidable reversed baseball caps. They all look good, but the acting is just adequate, only Drew Starkey really stands out as the troubled Rafe, and Rudy Pankow was pretty convincing as the resourceful, ADHD-fuelled JJ.In fact it's more a series for teens, hardly exceeding the realms of The Hardy Boys or Nancy Drew.
Maybe, as a reasonably grown-up person, I shouldn't watch this at all, but hey, sometimes it's nice to go with an easy and enjoyable flow without too much thinking. Again..
A new season of "Silo" is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres this month.

Follows Paddington (2014). Paddington in Peru is comfortably the weakest of the trilogy with the absence of Paul King and Simon Farnaby definitely being felt but this is still a delightful third installment that loses none of the heart and brings everything set up in the first act to a neat conclusion thanks to another satisfying third act.
It's a consistently funny adventure which never forgets the immigrant story at the heart of this as Paddington struggles to balance his past and future.Ben Whishaw remains endlessly precious with another pitch perfect vocal performance so Paddington continues to be a much needed cinematic balm . Antonio Banderas gets to do everything Dial of Destiny stopped him doing, having a ball whilst he does it and Olivia Colman as a suspicious singing nun is another big highlight.Dougal Wilson's direction brings enough whimsy through carrying over ideas from the predecessors and some new inventive ones as well as a few well placed references to other films.
The CGI is pushed like never before, making it all the more impressive that the effects that bring Paddington to life rarely falter despite the sheer amount of CG bears this time.

It follows Catherine Ravenscroft, a television documentary journalist whose work has been built around exposing the wrongdoings of long-respected institutions. Gary Oldman was originally rumored to be cast, but was replaced by Kevin Kline.. Jonathon uses the same lens in multiple episodes.
Such a lens would not be able to focus on close subjects, such as selfies with Sasha or in the bedroom with Catherine. I didn’t know the experience I was going to have when I started screening this AppleTV+ limited series with Cate Blanchett and Kevin Kline. "Disclaimer" is based on the novel of the same name by Renée Knight and was written and directed for the screen by Alfonso Cuarón.
Blanchett plays Catherine, a journalist whose secrets from her past surface in alarming ways, forcing her to confront a past that wreaks havoc on her entire life. It was a masterfully told story that took us on a fascinating journey of discovery as the audience is shown (sometimes in vivid detail) the ‘events’; from Katarina’s past. It was surprising to see Sacha Baron Cohen in a more serious role, but he did it right.
Despite a few/several minor niggles, I highly recommend this series if you like character dramas with some added tension/intrigue. Note: There are some pretty graphic depictions of sex/intimacy shown in various episodes. This isn’t action-packed, and it took about half an episode (about 30 minutes) to finally get “engaged”; to the story.

An agnostic sex podcaster and a newly single rabbi fall in love; they discover if their relationship can survive their very different lives and interfering families. Originally titled “Shiksa”, which is also the last word spoken in the first episode. I wasn’t sure about the premise but I fell in love with Joanne and Noah, their chemistry works… a really funny show that had me laughing and smiling throughout. Great handling of the topics and timely in today’s environment. Definitely funny but also good messages. I loved Kirsten Bell in The Good Place which is why I decided to watch Nobody Wants This and I was rewarded with a great show. Adam Brody was brilliant as Noah and the supporting cast were great and added to the enjoyment of the show. I sincerely hope there is a season 2, it’s that good. Highly recommend 👏👏👏

Hitpig (Jason Sudeikis) is a clever bounty hunting pig who catches escaped animals and returns them to their owners. His next job is his biggest yet: return a dancing elephant named Pickles (Lilly Singh) to a maniacal Vegas showman (Rainn Wilson), for a million bucks. The mission quickly escalates into a wild adventure around the world. When danger looms, it is up to Hitpig to save the day but he can’t do it alone. He must realize that some things are more important than a paycheck and finds the greatest bounty of all, friends.

Two young religious women get drawn into a cat-and-mouse game in a strange man’s house. The music in the end credits is a version of “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” set to “Fade In You” by Mazzy Star. A nod to the fact that Radiohead’s “Creep” is a reprise (for melody) of “The Air That I Breathe” by The Hollies, which Grant mentions earlier in the film.
The end credits say that no Al generator was used in the making of the film. I saw seven films at TIFF this year, and my vote for Best Picture went to Heretic, starring Hugh Grant (which would have also gotten my vote for Best Actor if that were a voting category). I was really impressed when I saw him touch his dark side in the HBO miniseries THE UNDOING, but here he turns it up to 11, playing a lovable psychopath obsessed with religion.
Sophie Thatcher and Chloe East are also great as two Mormon missionaries who think they’re approaching someone interested in converting to Mormonism. Grant, however, turns out to be much more erudite and religiously questioning than they expected. When they realize he’s not really interested in converting, but rather in discussing religion, they try to leave, only to find themselves trapped inside.
Thus begins a game of cat and mouse in which Grant tests their faith. The horror is solid, but it doesn’t quite reach the extremes of similarly claustrophobic horrors like FUNNY GAMES (the original) and SPEAK NO EVIL (the 2022 version). My only quibble is that the choice of Mormonism as a religion seems a bit premeditated.
I haven’t been this confident about an Oscar nomination for an acting film at TIFF since I saw Allison Janney in I TONYA in 2017. And after the film and a few people on the way back, I was complimented on the question I asked myself: “Did Richard Dawkins influence me?” Co-director Bryan Woods confirmed that he did.

Unravel the mystery of a town in the American Midwest that traps anyone who enters it. As the townspeople struggle to maintain a sense of normalcy and search for a way out, they must also survive the threats of the surrounding forest. Instead of giving us any real answers, it feels like the show is just adding more layers to the mystery. If From keeps holding back and not revealing anything, it could lose viewers who want to at least see the truth.
