Alana Higman, a die-hard Kansas City Chiefs fan, and her family are competing to win Fan of the Year, in a process judged by Director of Fan Engagement, Derrick. The movie was filmed on the historic Independence Square location in Independence, Missouri, which actually looks like it all year round. The locations that served as the Higman family’s store and Norma and Nick’s BBQ restaurant are real-life family-owned businesses.
The square also has a Christmas light display like the one in the movie. Well…I’m a Chiefs fan; I’m a Hunter King fan and I’m a Tyler Hines fan. I wish I could stop here, but unfortunately, I have to elaborate.
If you’re not a Chiefs fan, I don’t know how you got to the end of a movie like this. I didn’t find the chemistry between Hines and King very strong at all. The writing was so-so, and the overall plot was a little weird.
I liked the supporting cast, and Ed Begley, Jr. was pretty good as the old man who was dazed. I thought it was interesting that there was a scene where the entire family was hammered in a Hallmark movie.
A modern-day tale of fortune seeking in the world of West Texas oil rigs
See writer/director Taylor Sheridan's most popular movies and TV series on IMDb, ranked by user rating.. A Landman, at least one who works in the petroleum industry, will act as the middleman between the exploration companies and the landowners.
Typically, a landman's job is to negotiate and finalize contracts with landowners with mineral rights to lease those rights to the company they represent Essentially, they manage the land and secure the leases, so they can drill oil and gas. Like a foreman on a construction site, they build out roads ,living quarters for the workers (man-camp), assemble the excavation machinery and drill the well itself especially in remote locations.
For someone so focused on his goals, the inclusion of an emotionally unstable, one-woman circus undermines the purpose of the show entirely. It feels like her character disrupts the central narrative, adding unnecessary chaos rather than supporting his journey.
The portrayal doesn't enhance the storyline but instead makes it harder to take his determination and focus seriously.Similarly, the roles of both his wife and daughter feel out of place within the series. The daughter's portrayal feels particularly shallow, with her character offering little beyond surface-level engagement, which doesn't add value to the story. Moreover, having these characters constantly jump around in provocative clothing, seemingly for no purpose other than to attract views, feels out of sync with the tone of the series.
Instead of enhancing the plot or character dynamics, this approach comes off as a superficial tactic to draw attention.

Things get complicated, however, when Lil Petey forms an unexpected bond with Dog Man. When Lil Petey falls into the clutches of a mutual enemy, Dog Man and Petey reluctantly join forces in an action-packed race against time to save the young kitten. In doing so, they discover the power of family (and kittens!) to bring together even the most hostile enemies.

When Brett Goldstein, Jason Segel, and Bill Lawrence were asked how they got Harrison Ford on the show, Segel said that Goldstein originally wanted a “Harrison Ford type” and would audition people who looked like Ford. Segel told Goldstein that they had to at least pitch the project to Ford first, figuring he would turn it down outright, but at least other people would hear that Harrison Ford was offered the role, generating interest from other notable actors.
Goldstein still doesn’t understand what he did to convince him, but he was elated nonetheless. From the reviews I’m reading here, people seem to either really like this show or really dislike it, and it seems like it could depend on how critics react to Jason Segal.
I’ve enjoyed his movies and think he’s perfect for this role — and the addition of Harrison Ford takes the show to an even higher level. The writing is excellent, the story is fresh, and the characters are original without overdoing the overly quirky stereotype.
I was really disappointed after the second episode when I realized I’d have to wait for more. Highly recommended!

Sawyer’s character was originally intended to be an older, dapper, suit-wearing urban hustler from Buffalo, New York. LOST transcended TV drama writing and encapsulated thematic theory when it burst onto the scene in 2004. That was 14 years ago, and the show still holds up. Seriously.
My then-16-year-old son said it was the best-written show of its time, and now that he’s 30 and a writer, he maintains that commitment to this day – every other show still stands in LOST’s shadow.
